Hi, I'm pretty new to the whole vintage watch collecting. However, to celebrate my engagement I was thinking on buying the following watch: https://www.vintage-portfolio.com/shop/omega/35mm-pink-gold-omega-bumper-vintage/ At first sight, as far as I can tell, the serial number and movement are from around the same period. Sadly that is how far my "knowledge" goes. Any suggestions on whether it is worth buying this watch ? Kind regards
DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH. The dial has been poorly refinished killing the value. The movement is also in very poor condition and appears to have a broken or missing seconds pinion (it should have a second hand).
The seller got kicked off the forum some time ago for less than honest dealings/descriptions. I wouldn't deal with him.
You research. Use google. Hang out here a bit and use the search feature. Listen to the elders. Then one day you'll realize you can spot this pos from a mile away.
Oooh, from our Austrian friend He really is something special, isn't he? I am shocked that people apparently continue to buy from his overpriced stock of mediocre or redialed watches. EDIT: But you've got to give him credit for pretty good wordsmithing - "original Omega crown", indeed.
This seller purchased a watch from me under a false name and account only to post the watch on his website for over 3x the price he paid me. You would be better off purchasing from an honest member here than one of his overpriced watches.
Have a look through here https://omegaforums.net/forums/private-watch-sales/ And here https://omegaforums.net/threads/recommended-vintage-omega-watches-on-ebay-not-inquiries.1790/
The seller still frequents this forum- the description of the dial has now changed to: "The refurbished dial has some patina."
@SG_FL do not buy that watch or any watches from that website. This thread should explain why https://omegaforums.net/threads/mod...-account-soliciting-advice.23878/#post-262343
That would be enough for me. If @X350 XJR says something is good, bad or indifferent, believe it. Plus the dust on that movement in the photo indicates how poorly it is being handled by the seller.
