Need help with first constellation purchase

Hello all,

I'm looking to buy a vintage constellation
I've been looking at various watches at chrono and I don't want to make a mistake buying a redial or overpolished watch.
I prefer ref: 168.017, 168.029
Linen dial, brown dial and bor bracelet is a plus for me.

Can you guys see any wrong with these watches?

This looks like a good example, small scrath in glass and rare dial

Linen dial, bor bracelet, bit overpriced?

I've tried to educate my self looking at various videos, but it"s hard to see repaints and overpolished case on photos for me.

I know, but it will be a lot of photos when I'm considering 3 different watches?

Up to you but a lot of people will not bother to follow links. Additionally when someone reads this thread in months or years down the line the links will become inactive and the thread will make no sense

Seems like image quality goes down on screenshot, and its not possible to download images from chrono. Or am I doing something wrong ? 🙁
Right click on the enlrged photo, save picture as, on the middle tab at the bottom left, click add photos.

Right click on the enlarged photo, save picture as, on the middle tab at the bottom left, click add photos.

Or you can just copy the image and paste it here, works for me and saves riffling through your folders.

Works for me on the 1st link, but 2nd I can neither download or copy in right size.
I copy the image from first ad and paste in like you said. But on 2nd it only says "copy adress"
Which results in a folder of small images or a link.

Are you looking at other places than chrono? It would not be correct to say everything on chrono is over priced as I’ve seen some that were quite fair and I talked to someone here who pretty much deals exclusively with chrono and he said the majority of his purchases worked out. I can’t see the prices on the ones you posted so this may be irrelevant anyway. I’ve seen a number of nice ones sell here as well. Not trying to steer you away or anything but when the same KS I bought locally for 300 bucks is 900 and over on chrono (usd) I know something is off and I didn’t get that good of a deal.

Seller asking 1400 dollar but open to offers.
Seeems a bit steep without a bracelet.
I look mostly on chrono, watchrecon, of and so on.

Thanks for your reply.

Ouch, indeed. The bricks bracelet with correct end links can set you back another 200USD, which makes it 1600 - I'd say that's realistically about 500USD too much. That being said, the question is time vs. money really. If you're willing to throw the money at it you won't need much patience - if you are willing to invest the time, you won't need this much money. We've regularly had examples with the sought-after dial variants (grey or linen), 18k WG bezel and brick bracelet in nice condition for sale in the classifieds here for sub-1000USD. It's also roughly where I'd expect a no-reserve ebay auction to end.

Surley not a major issue but the lume on the hands looks like redone and the colour isn't a good match with the dial lume

I don’t like to give advice as I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to watches but I recently picked up a Connie with the original bracelet for much less than what they are asking for that one you are looking at. Now perhaps you have been looking for that specific style and really like it which is cool but if you plan on spending that much for a Connie I bet you can do better if you look around. It seems when I’m in a rush to obtain a particular watch I end up making errors. In the end of course it’s your money and your decision and I know sometimes you gotta jump on things. I hope you have good luck picking one up either way, whatever you decide.

Both of these look overpriced, a lot. Try looking on here.

You seem to be in Scandinavia so bear in mind that at least one is from UK. If so, you will probably pay charges to receive this and they could be 20-25% on the price. If you're in the EU, then you won't pay any charges when buying from another EU country.

Good luck, Chris

Spot on, tax is 25% no matter where I buy from outside my country.

Well thanks for all the replies, I mean at these prices it should be complete and *mint*

Think I will just wait and watch the sales thread here more frequently.

I'm no expert but when you say it I can clearly see the difference, it's a lot more green/relumed.
