Need help with 1930ies Omega cal 26.5

Dear watch lovers,

due to a financially challenging situation I consider selling this piece of beauty.

The model seems to be cal 26.5. It was apparently made in the 1930ies for the Swiss military.

The watch is in good condition, keeping the timing precisely and running for 50+ hours.

I bought it three years ago from a renowned retailer in Switzerland. Due to a damaged main axis, it was professionally repaired in late 2022. The attached video was filmed by the watchmaker.

Do you have any advice on where/how to sell it? What is more, I am unsure about the replaced axis’ impact on the value. I’d be happy to receive realistic suggestions.

Best

The repairs to the movement won't affect the value, which mainly depends on the size (31mm?) and the condition (only fair). Given that you purchased it from a "renowned retailer," you probably paid much more than it was worth, and then invested in a significant repair. You will need to understand that you are upside-down on the watch by a good margin and take what you can get.

If you like the watch, I'd suggest trying to keep it and sell something else instead. You're probably not going to get a lot for it.

Thanks for you help! I paid CHF500 for the watch, is that about the sum I could expect in return? If you'd say there's a high chance I will get much less, I will probably follow your advice and keep the watch.

Hey Dan, I won't be home over the festive season. Will provide you additional footage on the watch in about three days. Thanks, merry Christmas!

Cases are not measured including the crown, it's easier to measure from 8-to-2. But we can see it's a small watch as suspected, about 31mm. Unfortunately, watches of that size are not worn very much by men these days. Given the size and the condition of the dial, I think it would be hard to sell for close to CHF500. When you buy from a dealer/retailer, you generally pay a premium price and as a result will take a substantial loss upon resale. The watch looks totally legit and original, and good quality, just not very desirable for the reasons I mentioned.
