Hi I am new to the forum and need help selecting a Speedmaster and I know there will be people on this site who know the brand and models. I want to buy secondhand, I don't want a vintage model but a model that will hopefully hold its value i.e. a classic. I am willing to pay up to £3K for the right watch but would prefer to pay less! Do I buy auto or wind-up, which movement, strap type etc and what price would I need to pay to get a good one? All basic stuff like that. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

The best model is IMO either the vanilla 3570.50 or the 3572.50, both are manual wind, the automatics just aren't as cool. Get it on bracelet and hit up Kringkily he'll get you a good price on a used model and is as reliable as they get.

As the wise Ash said, 3570.50.

If you like to wear your watch inside out, the 3572.50 with the window over the engine makes for endless wrist gazing.

My choice though, the 3570.50, pic courtesy of Ω website

    Hey,

    1. look for a manual wind - price is more stable
    2. look for a very complete set - price is stable
    3. try to catch a limited edition of your choice - had allready the pricedrop behind and will not drop too bad again
    4. Take ste Steel brackelet - if you want an other, but it afterwards somewhere else ;-)

... If Hesalite or Saphire? Depends on your preference - i would co and catch the hesalite if its your first Speedy!

    All the Best,
    Hans

For your first I'd go 3570.50 as well. +1 on getting in touch with Kringkily, he's great.

100% with the crowd on this one. Manual wind, classic Speedmaster, on a bracelet. There is nothing wrong with an automatic Speedmaster, but its not a moonwatch, and there is nothing more iconic than a Speedmaster moonwatch. If you get tired of the bracelet, or just want to change itup, you can then add a strap or whatever else you like on your own. Even if you don't think of yourself as a "collector", I'd still say its in your interest to get a complete package - watch, inner/outer boxes, papers, warranty cards, hang tag. Your best bang for the buck is to buy from a respected seller here on the forum - they offer great condition watches which are complete, for far less than you can get from a brick/mortar dealer. Good luck and welcome.

I just bought a speedmaster from kringkily last week, he's as good as it gets! Got me a great deal on one of my grails, 3870.50 (3570.50 w/ black leather strap)

    Yes,

I also had a very good business with kringkily, i can just say "yes" - give him a call/mail - he will offer you a good selection of two or three possible watches with a very true evaluation about the conditions of te watches. Try it - very nice reseller!

I agree also! Buy with confidence from George (Kringkily). Enjoy your speedy when it arrives.

Just wanted to echo my strongest possible endorsement for George (kringkilly) as well. I have had multiple transactions with George; each could not have gone better.

I also back the 3570.50.00. This IS the current production of the classic Moonwatch truest to its original design. If you want a Moonwatch, this is it. George often has both BNIB and like-new/gently used examples available.

    good luck!!

I see one that got away from Trev....Need more Hasselhoff!

Agree with all the opinions here for a first Speedy-wind up, 3750.50, strap or bracelet (your choice). I personally have not had the pleasure of working with George, but every review I have ever read has been positive! Good luck!!
