Need help on an old chrono movement

Hi all,

I am pondering whether pulling the trigger on an ebay purchase - and am in need of some insights as to how this movement looks to the trained eye. Its a calibre 1600 - as I understand it a modified Valjoux 65 from the 1930s. I see alot of service parts - including the bridge (would have preferred it to be signed).
I guess my questions would be:
- is there anything on this that looks out of the ordinary or out of place?
- Seller alleges no water damage, but it does look like to me like there is some damage
- general appreciation of the movement?

I forgot to mention its from an EBERHARD monopusher.

There’s some evidence of previous water intrusion on a few of the steel parts, but it’s been cleaned up for the most part. The brown discolouration on the bridges isn’t rust, as those are made of plated brass...

I am sorry that I missed this post, as it looks like you have already bought the watch. Unfortunately, this does not look like a real Eberhard, to me. If you compare the movement to the Eberhard movements below, you will see that it is entirely different. Rather than the unsigned bridge being a service part, it seems more likely that it is original and the movement was never signed. Further, the dial does not appear correct, and looks to have been refinished. It is likely that, when the dial was being refinished, the name "Eberhard" was added in an attempt to increase the value of the watch. I have seen this on various old chronographs before. If possible, I would recommend that you attempt to return the watch. I wonder if you could claim that it is not as advertised since it is not an authentic Eberhard watch.
