Having unsuccessfully tried to find information on this pocket watch, I humbly approach the learned OF community... any idea what it is (other than a Movado)? A re-case?

Why would you think re-case? It appears to have the iconic hand stamped above the serial number.

Looks perfectly fine, aside from missing the bow above the winding crown. Very nice pocket watch.

Thank you, Tony. I was not aware that the hand logo was a Movado trademark, and I saw no other signatures on any of the case parts. I was also not aware that Movado made such fine pocket watches, so I thought the case was third party. I have yet to find any record of one like this. Anyway, thank you for your valuable insights!

You are welcome. Movado actually made many fine pocket watches, and the one that you show is a high-class example.

Here's a similar one sold through a dealer:

Indeed. There is very nice pearlage on the base plate as well, but it's tough to see.

Very nice and looks original as Tony says.
No import code stamp on the balance cock, but has the 'Swiss' and adjustments info for the American market, so possibly circa 1920/25?

lovely watch - looks totally ok to me. Just missing some enamel and the part above the crown to fix the chain...
