I have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to identify this watch from photos on-line. None have the Roman numerals. I don't know how to take off the back and don't want to damage it anymore than it already is. The local jeweler told me that it is 18k but was too busy to get involved with the id process.
It was running and worn by my father-in-law until his death a few years ago. He received it in the 40's or 50's as a gift. Something is loose inside when you shake it.
Anything you all can tell me about the model, value, possible repair costs, etc would be greatly appreciated!

King Crouchy answered my very basic questions yesterday. Thank you for that! Went to a local jeweler today to have back removed and here is the interior of the watch I posted.
Can anyone identify this Omega and give me a ballpark assessment?
I can’t read another thing about Omega watches. I’m starting to dream about them!

It would have been helpful if you had simply re-opened your original thread, hit the REPLY button, and added the extra pictures so we wouldn’t have to hop back and forth between your threads in order to have a complete view of the watch. All,in all, it looks good to me. But plan on the added expense of having a thorough service done, if you buy it.

Sorry, clearly I know little about watches or posting to threads.
I own this piece. Trying to figure out the model, it’s value, whether it’s worth it to repair or sell “as is.”
Sorry for stumbling into this forum. You guys are experts and I don’t really trust most jewelers.

    Omega 2584

Need a dial shot for more.

The OP did post pictures of the front of the watch in the original thread. You can see the original thread here.

If the moderators could gather these two thread so they were contiguous, it would be helpful. The original thread in which there was a front view was titled need help identifying.

''The thing'' lose inside is the way a bumper automatic movement works. To identify the watch we need a picture of the inside of the caseback.
Looks like a nice piece. Don't send it to Omega for repair but to an independant watchmaker in your area with an omega parts account.

Not an expert but looks like a 2438 with a refinished dial (the roman numerals look aftermarket aswell?).
The lowest price would be just the weight of the watch (no strap) minus 20% multiplied by the price per gram of 18k gold. Hope you keep it in the family though :)

That’s the first one I’ve seen with the Roman numerals. I truly appreciate the help!

Yes, it's definitely a redial. But still a nice piece to get from the family. From a collector standpoint I wouldn't buy it.

Ok guys- You’ll love this! After reviewing with my husband what you’ve shared with me, he “remembered” an event decades ago, when his father’s watch strap broke and the watch fell down an elevator shaft!!

I’m not making this up! He knows I’ve spent hours on-line researching Omegas. He literally didn’t remember it until you mentioned the redial.

One more reason to own an Omega-They can survive a 6 floor drop and keep on working, even after 70 years!
Thanks for your expertise and advice.
