Hey everyone, this was passed down from my Grandparents. Can anyone identity the possible year and type of Omega this is? Thanks!

You need to open the watch to know which model it is and what serialnumber it has. But the dial is repainted in the past. And i've never saw those numerals on a omega.

    Search "1953 black omega bumper"

It looks like it may be a 1952 through 1954 year. If you search between those years that is the type of numerals they used.

I'm not saying those numerals are non omega. I'm just not familiar with them.

But I am saying the dial does not look original. But it belonged to your grandparents so it's of course a treasure. Dont get me wrong.

They are called Breguet numerals and are actually fairly common on 40s-50s Omegas.

It's strange. I've never had a omega from the 40's and just a couple from the 50's. The rest are all 60's.

It looks like the sweep seconds hand is missing on this example. I'd think it would have had one, given the seconds register around the perimeter of the dial.

The placement of the lume dots is, well, interesting.

So it is! Looks like it has gone down south for a vacation. Anyway, the dial looks completely original and not refinished in any way to me, though a bit worse for the wear. No lume dots on this model.

I'm more in the poor redial camp. Case looks original. Interesting to see what the inside of the caseback says

I don’t think it’s a fake. What are the small dots near the hour markers? If they are lume dots, they are indeed strangely placed, but might they be for instance attachments for the markers?

It doesn’t look like repainted to me, the condition isn’t exactly pristine but isn’t it still a nice two-tone dial beneath the wear? (Can’t see so well on my iPhone screen).

Similar two-tone dial in my watch. But I don’t know what’s going on with the hour markers in OP’s watch.

I know you can send your watch to Omega for restoration, is it worth it to do that? I've been told this decreases the value of the watch.

Why dont you take some better pictures first. Who knows... But dont send it to omega. Find yourself a good watchmaker. Give your location and somebody will point you in the right direction.

I'm in Dallas. I tried getting a better picture but the lighting is terrible. I'll see what I can do.

Anyone knows a good watchmaker in or near Dallas? I'm in the Netherlands so that's a bit far...
