Need Help Identifying This Vintage Omega

Hi all. This Omega was passed down from my late grandfather down to my dad down to me.

I sent it to Omega Switzerland to get it refurbished as it was not working. They’ve had it around a year and I just got notified that it’s arriving back to me soon. I asked what the reference number is and the rep who called me with the update said that it was unknown because Omega’s archives are being updated?

Anywho, would love the help of this community to help me identify it. Photo is before sending it to Switzerland.

Always say please and thank you. Members appreciate it.

It’s a standard caliber 301. Good movement. Simple design watch.

Would have been better to ask here first about servicing. Omega can be very expensive.

What did they say on the service and what would they do?

When you say refurbished did you specify what you didn’t want replaced?

I only ask as I’ve known omega to replace or restore a dial before which on the whole from a collectors point of view is undesirable and kills a lot of value. However this may not be a concern to you. Just worth keeping in mind if you ever send a watch to them again.

That being said omega are also known to be a whole lot more sympathetic to a watches originality compared to other brands such as Rolex who will happily replace every part imaginable making many vintage watches “worthless” to a degree.

Do you have a photo of the inside of the case? Most likely there is no reference number indicated, but if there were, that's where it would be.

I have to say that it's pretty obnoxious of Omega to refuse to give you that information after you paid for a restoration. 👎

They absolutely know what reference it is. Ridiculous.

Beautiful watch. Hopefully it comes back beautiful, not better than new......

Thank you all for the responses. I just got the watch back today and I'm very happy with the outcome. They replaced the hands and crystal with new ones. Also looks like they buffed up the gold filling case. Other than not receiving a brief model history from Omega, I am happy and will upload photos here soon. Now, the search is on for a period correct strap. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

PS - Chat GPT said circa 1952 to 1954 and Caliber 620 manual movement. But I know ai can be wrong. I defer to the expertise of you all.

The movement clearly says 301 on it, so Chat GPT is off by more than 2x! 301 Movement places it 1949 or newer.
