Hi everyone. New to the forum and looking for some help. My grandfather recently gave me his Omega constellation watch. He's passed on and I have no info as to what model, now old or a guesstimate of value. The band is broken and I want to replace it with an original or genuine band similar to what was on it. Thanks for your help! Pictures below.
show exactly where the band is broken. we should have old parts for a bandrepair ..... kind regards. achim
That is most certainly the original Beads of Rice bracelet your grandfathers watch came with. They started availability in the late 50's. I have 2 of them. But not for sale or parts. They do come up for auction on ebay once in a while. Expect to pay ~$120. for one. It's a unique bracelet. It has a sliding clasp for sizing, and a unique open Omega symbol for the clasp catch. Very cool. Here's a few pics of what yu are looking for. Hope it helps.
Keep an eye on eBay using the term Omega rice There are two types of closings, te slide style like yours and the more common fold over clasp. There are also 7row (like yours) and 9 row. You can get them (foldover style, not slide style) new from teds vintage watches or watchco Australia for around $300. Or keep an eye on eBay.
This one might be OK, keep an eye on it. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Original...n_15&hash=item589b379922&_uhb=1#ht_661wt_1184Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network And here is a new mint one for your consideration, I have one like it for my 601 Seamaster. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OMEGA-GE...ches&hash=item5893b32e57&_uhb=1#ht_672wt_1183Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Resurrecting a 5 year old thread is always fun! Two years before I showed up to start bothering the learned OF membership. This Seamaster 2846 Two Tone, with sliding buckle Beads Of Rice bracelet, is incoming and I hope to have it in a few days. I believe this is perhaps the reference depicted in @pitpro ‘s late 1950’s Omega ad show above. By the pics, it seems to have some originality and be in good condition. The dial pics are not great so we shall see. The bracelet unfortunately is missing links.
I have the 2975. Two of them actually. One I bought from Dennis @ulackfocus (who bought it from @kyle L ) The other I bought from @kyle L and gave to my son because I liked them so much. Both have 501's in them. One Big Logo(I kept), one small logo , gave to my son. Both came with the 2 tone sliding clasp early BOR bracelet, second version, without the Logo loop on the clasp, just the Logo embossed on clasp with release button like yours. I believe the 2846 was made just before the 2975. Differences are; 2975 had raised Big Logo or Small logo on caseback, 2846 was smooth. 2975 is 35mm, 2746 is 34mm, case. Can't see the movement number on yours, is it 500? You will love the watch. I don't think there's a whole lot of them(2 tone Seamaster 2975,2846), and they feel and look great on the wrist. Not sure, but maybe your hands were replaced along the line. Dennis might know better. Mine have the big lume fill.
As always, thanks very much @pitpro. After hearing from you about these cool sliding buckle BOR bracelets, I find myself attracted to the late 1950’s watches that featured them. First the Rancheros. Now these Seamasters. I’m not sure about the originality of these hands although they are present on other similarly dialed 2846s. They seem to allign well with the dial layout. An added bonus is the dial similarity with the Omega featured in the movie “Lalaland” Mine Movie
@gemini4 Yep, you're right. I had this one, NOS, on my hard drive database. Steve @cicindela had a real nice 2846 if I remember right. Like this, if not his.
If I remember right, he also had this one, a Two-Tone Guilloche with gold markers on a bracelet; which he sold, regretfully, to a member of the forum
SM2846 arrived today. Very nice pleasing patina, all original I’m guessing. Radium lume intact. Short bracelet but an all-star member has promised me some donor links. Totally out of my league with this purchase. First Omega smaller than 35mm for me. Fairly certain the dial is untouched. See macros below. Sorry for the lousy pics. Some Macros Joins the Rancheros with similar, period correct, brackets.
