Hi! I need some advises and identification for two vintage omegas that i got from my late grandfather. (where to service them in Finland and maby some selling prices?)

I cannot help with the identification and the validation of quality (they appear to be in honest and accurate shape to my uneducated opinion) but, if I can provide a small amount of advice if you decide to cash out I would not service them as most collectors will not value service done outside of their trusted watch makers. just a .02

Agreed. Unless you intend to keep them, servicing the watch before you sell is not the way to go. Give them a wind and if they run/keep moderate time, great. I would scour eBay sold listing prices for a fair comp. I'd reckon a few hundred USD at most for the second Omega. Personally, I would sell that, and use the funds to service the Constellation to keep.

 

Yea, my challenge was a bit tongue in cheek for that very reason. Hopefully he will surprise everyone. (Doubtful)

We view anyone that asks for selling prices with suspicion. Nothing personnel, but most that ask that question would have an ebay post up within 24 hours or sooner selling the watches. And trust me, these guys will find it! This is a community of watch enthusiasts and collectors. They do not but or sell watches for profit, but some of course could be made, they do so to buy or replace something else in their collection. And I would personally keep both in remembrance of my grandfather and pass them on to my children one day.

P.S. I know there are some Finns here, sure they will chime in with a recommendation of where to service the watches.

 

Probably true, but thing was that i know that the other one is a Constellation but i dont have a clue what the other watch is, I know theyre not copys and are real omegas. All original parts... That i dont know.... The one that has carvings is more important to me that the other one and maby ill sell it/them, maby i don't. Some times the need for cash comes more relevant that materia. Not at the moment thou It would have been Nice to know little bit more about them that all..

 

Best way to know exactly what they are and how old they are is to open up the back. All the information needed to identify them is there. Please go to the beginning of this forum and read the sticky about posting questions and pictures. It will give you an idea of what we look for to IS something. Once opened, you can find the serial number on the movement to date it, also it will tell you what caliber number the movement is and the case back will have the reference number of the watch itself. There would also be gold proof marks if gold. Hope this helps.
