Have read many threads on here and visited the Omega Boutique twice but I'm still on the fence about which size PO to go with. For reference, I have a ~7.5 inch wrist. 215.30.40.20.03.001 (39.5) Wrist shots of 39.5 versus 215.30.44.21.03.001 (43.5) Wrist shots of 43.5 It is pretty unfortunate Omega stopped making the 42mm PO in blue, I think that size is perfect for me. I tend to think larger watches sometimes come off as gaudy so I'm hesitant here. I know it comes down to personal taste but I'm hoping to hear some opinions. I plan to make this watch my daily driver and hope to keep it for a real long time so I want to get this right. Planning to buy used or from an AD. Something that is pushing me towards the 43.5mm is the fact that the 39.5 seems to be pretty rare. I've seen one used one posted on forum sales in the past 6 months and most ADs are charging $500 more to source the 39.5. Thanks in advance.
Much prefer the smaller one. Large watches are for folks who need to compensate for something, people like @ulackfocus on this forum. If you know what I mean.
Smaller one is really hard to find. You can easily find the 43.5 for under $4400 but the 39.5 is impossible. On sizing if you wear long sleeve dres shirts, I’d go with the smaller version since it’s a lot thinner.
Funny that you posted this today, I just tried on the 43.5 an hour ago and thought it was perfect for my wrist. I think you could go either way. Perhaps the 39.5 is a bit more proportional, but I can’t help but think that the dial looks squished every time I see it. No one is buying a planet ocean to be subtle, so I’d go 43.5. Then again, I’m an idiot that wears a 45.5 PO on a 7 inch wrist
I feel longer term, the smaller one would be more versatile, especially for every day wear. Do you have any other watches? Ever consider a used one in 42mm if that is the perfect size for you?
I’ve got a 7.5 inch wrist too. The 43.5 is a great fit and is very proportional, I wouldn’t want to go smaller.
I am in favour of the 39.5 considering your wrist size as it looks more proportional in my opinion. I do have the same 7.5 inch wrist size and find large size watches to look.... well.... to big. But if you're not in a hurry, and planning to buy used I'm sure there is a NOS or mint condition 42mm out there for sale some where. Just a matter of time for one to come up for sale. I own the 42mm 2201.50 and believe it to be the nicest looking PO made so far. Maybe a PO LM LE could replace it but then we're talking double the money. I am not a fan of large watches and believe they 'll become less popular in time. But then there was a time 42mm was considered to be very large and are now more popular the ever, so I could be wrong in that respect. Good luck with what ever choice you make.
They both look great on your wrist. I personally would lean towards the 39.5, but if I remember correctly, this is a pretty tall piece so it may be that the proportions make more sense with the 43.5 dial.
I own a 45.5 3313 and love the look but can’t wear the 42mm 8500 it’s too tall. 7.5 wrist it’s all proportions. My skx, Speedy pro and Sinn 903 no issues but my gf’s 42mm Seiko is too long lug to lug for me and it looks great on her 5 inch wrist with a NATO. She can’t even wear my Speedy pro at all it looks wrong.... TLDR: proportions matter
I find that pics make a watch look bigger than it really looks on wrist. So although the 39.5 looks better in your pic, I'm thinking it looks smaller on wrist in reality. And that the 43.5 isn't as big as it looks in pic. I like the 43.5.
From the pictures, I like the look of the 39.5. You must be leaning in one direction more than the other. Go with what your gut tells you.
