View attachment 2626 View attachment 2626 View attachment 2626 HI:
I just joined and have a large number of vintage Omega watches , however I am really stuck on this one: It is a 'Movado Museum Watch' Except Movement, Dial, Crown and strap are OMEGA! Inside case are 14kt, D6858, 21725. Did Omega make a Museum Watch???? Thanks for any help.Dial looks like Movado Museum but says Omega Swiss.

I've seen Movado-style Omegas before, but would need pictures to determine in this one is one of them. In fact, Omega made the design first, circa 1970.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Gator:
Thanks for the reply ...in fact "The original Museum Watch, designed in 1947, manufactured by Vacheron & Constantin-Le Coultre Watches, Inc., Switzerland, was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in 1960.[1][3][4]
Movado started producing an unauthorized version starting in 1948, copying Horwitt's design. Movado finally settled with Horwitt in 1975 with a payment of $29,000. Following Horwitt's death, Movado started heavy promotion of Horwitt and the design of the Museum Watch.[3] I think The Omega is from the 50's. The server will not take my hy res photos so here is a low res IMGP3160.JPG

That looks like a 60's or 70's case & hands with a dial that's been refinished to the Museum style. A shot of the inside and outside of the caseback (Seamaster logo present?) and anything else would help even more.

The serial number puts it at 1973.

    Hi :
Thanks a lot...don't think Omega would be making a Museum in 1973 ...or would they? You are tremendous. Dr. HBB

No problem. I was able to access this from the Brooklyn Museum regarding the original design.

    http://www.brooklynmuseum.org/opencollection/objects/112913/Museum_Watch#

This was one of several JLC/VC designs that were dual branded back in the 1950's. Don't know why or how Omega was allowed to copy it in the 1970's, but I suppose they had to stop when Movado paid a rights fee to Mr. Horwitt in 1975.

IIRC, these have the Omega name at 6 o'clock, similar to the original Movado design.

    Hope this helps,

I know very little about the Omega "Museum" watches, other than they exist.

hbruceome is selling his watch on eBay. I make no endorsement, but he has done some research which may be read in the listing.

There are also good hi-res photos there:

    Omega9.jpg Omega10.jpg Omega8.jpg hi,
not sure if this went thru...
i have owned the attached timepiece since 1980, but can not determine it's model, name description, etc. it is similar to the Museum" piece but have 3 diamonds at the 12.
The boutique in NYC shows it as a "D6672", but when i look that # up, it's a completely different timepiece.
    any help would be appreciated.

Gerry, not sure what the problem is. You were provided this information on the other thread, but perhaps you did not see it. You must understand that the dial pattern/appearance may vary in appearance on these models. Omega still considers it the same model, not a different watch. There were many different forms of this watch.
