I've seen these go unsold for repeated listings on eBay for $1200. I think the real selling price is more like $600 - $950. It seems that the vintage Rolex crowd isn't too interested in these type of watches. They want automatic sport watches like the 5513 and 1675.

Ironically these aren't far design wise from 1019 Milgausses which are worth $15k+ Its just luck of the draw that the Milgauss being automatic and later re-released became a collector favorite while these manual winds were overlooked, I'm sure you'll enjoy wearing it

There's nothing quite like putting a good hand wind on in the morning an winding it up.

Just lock the door before hand, nothing worse than having someone walk in on you while you're busy winding it and having to feign innocence

Don't worry if you paid a little more than average. If you like the watch it's all good.

It's a nice little Oyster Royal (some didn't say Royal on the dial, but it's the same case reference #). This one is a nice wearable 34mm size (some earlier ones were 32mm). I think the hands, dial, and bracelet were replaced during a service sometime in the '70s.

Enjoy and wear it well (and have it serviced if it hasn't been in awhile).

Ouch! I get many a customer that think they have bought a bargain when they tell me they bought a Rolex for £1000. When they bring it in and I see it is a Precision my heart goes out to them as these change hands for around £300/£500 - I can get a Datejust for just under or around the £1000 mark, albeit a 1601, but as they have never changed the design, who knows how old it is!!
I specialize in pre owned Rolex watches and with £1000 I could put something Automatic on your wrist. If you like the super vintage look, go for a Super Precision, which has an Automatic movement. These too are very cheap, under £1000.
I am new to the site but will be adding more watches the more I get known on the site. I am full of knowledge having been a collector/dealer for 20+ years.

Be thankful you were not like one of my clients who paid way over the odds for a Tudor (4 figures) because it said Rolex on the back and had a Rolex Crown on the Crown, when really it was worth £300, tops!

Its a fickle world, watches. If you do not know what your doing, you will get burnt!
