So I've always wanted a Seamaster, and I'm in the position to purchase one. Problem is, I don't know if I should go with the classic 2254.50 or the modern co-axial 212.30.

For the sake of the co-axial... is it worth it going with the 212.30?

    22545000 would be my choice.

I am biased because I have a 2254. But regardless of that, I would still buy it again.

But the Co-Axial fellas.... do we care about the Co-Axial movement?

dunno but when an experienced and reputable watchmaker steers your towards the non co-axial between the two models you mentioned, then I can only infer that the 2254 is reliable and robust enough to forgo the co-axial movement [and] perhaps cost?

I concur with all of the above, I'm seriously considering a 2254 myself.

It's a seriously good looking watch which should hold its value well.

+1 for the 2254.50. They styling is just right with this version of the Seamaster Professional. I think the newer models with the Co-Axial movement lost what made this watch great, the sword hands, large triangle, great matte wavy dial, etc. I had a blue SMPc with the old Seamaster Professional Speedy style bracelet and eventually sold it because it was too shiny and the look grew tired. That being said, the Co-Axial movement in that watch and my other watches are awesome from a time keeping perspective.
