    Hi guys

have been looking for a nice vintage Heuer for a while and I was offered this Camaro from a collector that I know and have done a few deals with in the past. These are the only pictures I have but since he is quite close it will not be a problem to have a closer look at the watch. I don't have a picture of the movement, but the info I got is that it is serviced and looking good. Of course I would not buy it before checking the inside first.

Now, please let me know what you think about this piece? The dial and the case?
It does have scratches and some marks, but to me it looks unpolished.

Asking price is 4500 euro. Researching the internet (Heuer Camaro V72) I find it very difficult to really understand the value since the price range is so wide (4-9k EUR).
Where would this one land approx?

    Greatful for all comments!

    /Kapka

It has a very nice dial but the case shows some signs of a light polish in the past, despite its pockmarked condition. It's by no means terrible but - 4500 EUR can buy you a really excellent example of a plain silver or black dial V72 Camaro these days, so unless the seller is willing to come down on price a bit I'd sit tight and keep your eye out for a better one.

At that price no movement pics would make me nervous.

I would agree with other members. I would pass on this one as well.

Thank you guys for your advice, I guess I should cool down on this one. It is just hard to pass becasue the dial is so nice :(.
I got the price down to 4000 but I don't know. The case is looking a bit tired and there is nothing I can do avout that.

I will think about it for a day or two.

    Cheers, Kapka

At 4000 US, it's a yes from me. But EUR is still a bit high - however if it really appeals to you, it's not completely unreasonable to pay a slight premium. You wouldn't happen to have gotten the serial number from the seller, would you?

4000 euro is about 4700 USD so it is a bit more but I 'll try to get down a bit more when I see him this weekend. I do not have the serial number but will ask for it. Is there different versions of black Camaro V72?
That chocolate brown dial is just calling for me :D but the case is holding me back..Tough one I must say.

Yes, plain and tachymeter models, and later on there were "Exotic" tachymeter models with the tachymeter track in lume and orange chronograph hands.

Ok I understand there were few different dial/hands options. So black dial like the one I posted is the only version of the plain black dial/white hands? There is no Mk1/2/3 within this one?
Thanks a lot for the help. I just asked for the serial number :).

There could be, since Heuer released many "executions" of their models in the span of just a few years in the 1968-1972 period that the Camaro was in production and there hasn't been a ton of research done or published on them (yet) as they have so far flown under the radar of most collectors. However, most 7220Ns resemble the one you posted, and this one does have the correct parts.

It's important to view the movement for a three-register Heuer Camaro. The reason is because the triple registers can have either the more desirable V72 or the less valuable V7736. The V72 variant also has a thinner case and it's pretty hard to tell without it being side by side.

To the OP, I for one thinks you're getting an absolute steal at 4k Euro. Dial looks good, case could be better but have seen worse and asking for more.

You can tell the V72 by the location of the pushers. The start/stop pusher is slightly closer to the crown than the reset pusher on the V72.

I like that encouranging view . Thank you! I feel like 4000 euro is the entrance level for this reference now days and yes, the case has some marks and scratches but it's not so bad. I guess it a subjective opinion and I think I can accept the case as it is :). I'm not looking for a mint piece but rather honest and unmolested piece with original parts.

Simply looking at past sales, some reached even $6000 so I think $4700 USD is a great price.

7736 Camaros are insanely rare and only came with panda tachymetre dials. Chances are they'd be worth a LOT more (x~2) than a standard non-tachy V72 model.

Those would have either been perfect, or sold by certain dealers whose readers are known to pay crazy premiums to market value for the vintage watches they sell

This one is nice, and for 4k EUR will satisfy the wearer, but is not a steal IMO. Next year perhaps it would be

Good enough for me to push me in the right direction and if I can cut another couple of hundreds I will consider it as a pretty good deal . Thanks!!!
