    Hi all,

I have had the chance to check out a speedy that is suppossed to be from 1982 and would like to have your opinion on this. I am still a speedy noob.
I do not have the serial number and pictures from the movement yet. The lady in the store promised to send me those on wednesday.
I am unsure about some of the parts found on this watch and would like to know your judgemet on those.

    Dial, bezel and hands:

    2F9D1B40-FABF-4AFF-9FFE-356AF032B7D4.jpeg

I am not sure if this dial is period correct for 1982. Were there been stepped dials after 78? According to my research the bezel might fit to a 1982 145.0022? Are those hands tritium?

    Case:

    DF9C141A-4329-4CF1-ADD9-8A6B3AF58F06.jpeg

I think this looks to new for a watch of this age or is this just polished. It shows less wear than the bezel. The case back might be a replacement part. What about he crown?

The braclet is marked 1/1171. This should be correct for a 145.0022. The watch is priced a little bit less than 4000 USD. What are your houghts on this watch?

    Thanks and enjoy your weekend

Step dial is from a -71 or -69. Chrono hand from 145.012 (cal 321) and earlier. Bezel is from 90s+. Bracelet could be from the 70s. So maybe this is from 1972, and not 1982, or it’s a collection of parts. Caseback reference number and movement serial will tell more...

Considering the issues as described, this is basically Value as Parts - it's very nice looking as is, but isn't worth anywhere near $4K.

Caseback and movement could help determine if this deal is worth pursuing, like @eugeneandresson said. Anything with a step dial is worth more, and that one looks good from the poor photo. So if it is a - 71 or - 69 this could be an OK deal (not good by any stretch) with the bracelet. Replacing chrono hand will have you come out ahead. DNN bezel that matches case will be ~800 USD.

It's a project though, and honestly may not be the first watch that I'd jump at as a newbie to this.

    Keep us posted!

Be sure to get photos of the movement, especially the serial number. It's an 8-digit line of numbers on the edge of the movement

You’ll notice that the lume on these is green, and no stepped dial. F38D5DC4-29F1-4059-A408-10A34A4D59EE.jpeg ABC32AE9-9A72-48C1-B2C5-6CE262ACE294.jpeg

    2. I really appreciate this.

Got the pictures today. According to the serial number it appears to be a 69...
Has been to Omega Service in 2015. That explains the newer parts. Will post more this weekend.

    Cheers

I would pass on this. You can find better for the money, and its always better to be patient and find the right one.

The price it too steep given the mismatch of parts. And if a -69 then the case back is also in correct.

Maybe bump your budget and get a SW/-71 or lower your budget and get a 90s era tritium.

Thanks for your feedback! What do you think would be a fair price for this watch?
If I would like to complete this watch with period correct parts I would need:

    - bezel
    - hands
    - case back

How much do you think I would have to spend for those parts? I didn‘t make a decision yet. I am just curious.

    Thanks!

Well first you have to determine what exactly it is. Is the serial in fact a -69? Or is it a -71?

Well, as @Taddyangle said, we would need the serial number to know which parts you need. I'm reluctant to answer this really, because I really don't see the reason to be all too interested at anywhere near $4000. But for the sake of education, ball-park numbers for the the replacement parts you mentioned might be:

    - Bezel: depends on the serial number. Probably $400-800 if you need a DN90 (late 145.022-69 or -71), and more like $1500-3000 if you need/want a DO90 (early 145.022-69)
    - Hands: $400-800 + considerable patience. on the higher end of that if you want decent examples that haven't been redone.
    - Case: Depends on the serial number, as there could be at least 4 different casebacks that could be correct for this watch. I would say upwards of $500.

You could also do what I have done and determine prices by looking on the sales forums here, or searching completed listings on ebay.

All this is conjecture and probably moot until we see the serial and inside the case back

    Thanks for the comments.

This pictures are not really useful:

I also recieved a picture of an Omega warranty card. The serial number on there is starting with 309xxxxx. For me it looks like the that the serial on the movement starts with a 4. They might not fit... I think I have to go to the shop again...
