IMG_1096.JPG IMG_1097.JPG IMG_1098.JPG IMG_1099.JPG Based on these pictures and not much knowledge about the 145.022 71st I want to ensure I'm getting the right piece for the right price. I have checked out speedmaster101 as a reference point but just need some feedback from fellow collectors thanks

Looks OK from these (pretty bad) pictures.
Patina on dial & hands might not be the most attractive.

You need a caseback pic and movement pic.

Correct dial bezel and hands for a 71.

That being said without the serial....

It's much easier if just tell us how much the seller is asking.

If you want an estimate, this would be 'running' on the price guide you quoted or perhaps very slightly above.

At first I did not agree, but the hands and dial are meh, nothing amazing, but decent and to be honest not my cup of tea. The case is fairly unattractive and chewed up. It does have a nice DNN though I looked at it again and concur.

a little higher then I would like on that.. I think you can find much better examples under 3500 of you hunt. At the end of the day its a chewed up case, and is that something you want?

Obviously I wouldn't want a chewed up. I'll keep looking thanks for the input

If the movement serial checks out, 3K is an OK price for this example.
Case might not be as bad as these bad pictures make it look... Better pictures would help get a better assessment of the condition.

I personally don't think you're going to find anything much better than this under $3,500. Prices are going haywire, and I believe $4k is the current floor for these.

I don't see this as a $3k watch. Perhaps it is to some, but I'd rather pay more for a better example.

I would say any correct (numbered) tritium speedy is worth $3k. But that doesn't mean it will present well or be worn well.

You think even a mint mid 80's example would be a better option? I'm looking for just a nicely aged speedy preferably with a bracelet around 3k

http://www.ebay.com/itm/omega-speed...795532?hash=item238f58798c:g:LR0AAOSw~ZBZyShLPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Currently at $3500 on ebay, and curiously missing the shots with the chewed up edges.

So is it the same watch or a ebay scammer using the pictures?

I think you can find a non step dial tritium 78 - 98 that looks much better for 3k.

100% I'd go for a better condition 80's example over this. The step dial is nice and it's preferable to have an earlier model, all things being equal.

But if you can't stretch to a good condition 70's model, an 80's one is the way to go IMO. The 80's models are the best value for me. They're just into vintage territory so don't command the prices of 60's/70's models, but they often have beautiful yellow/orange lume. They also come with an 1171 or 1450 (if you're lucky) bracelet.

For 3k, a good condition 80's one all the way for me.

I'm specifically looking for a chewed up 71 to use as a beater, but taking a pass on this one.

Messaged the seller to ask for a photo of the movement. Even though he has a shot inside the caseback, he refused to provide a movement shot - which not a great sign. Plus, the green-brown lume is unattractive. Even though I'm in driving distance and could meet for in-person inspection, I'm passing.

    Just my 2c.
