Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum and am looking a bit of advice.

I've just got back into watches and have collected a couple of seikos, tissots the odd timex and a.....fossil (don't judge) and I think the time is right to get my first proper swiss name watch.

I have always had a thing for the 60's/70's omegas and have had my eye out for some kinda hard refs to find in my price range. Seamaster cosmic 2000 166.135. And the f300hz seamaster 198.0005 & 198.0016.

I have a real want for a omega geneve 135.461and these seem to creep into my price range however the real question is am I missing something before I part with my cash?

I love the classic uncomplicated look of the 60's seamasters however these can be at any price range by the looks of things and wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of a great omega for under £400

I’m a fan of Geneves and, currently, they’re just about within your budget although I think buyers are cottoning on to what good watches they are and good value for money.

My suggestion is that you look for an automatic, preferably with at 552 or 565 movement. If you fancy a handwind, then I think that the 601s are excellent.

I’d also suggest that you look at the 165.041 or 166.041 cases.

Good luck

Are you a fan of the 1st Generation Omega Geneve Dynamics? I started with those due to their affordability and solid movements. Or the Seamaster 600. If you're dead set on a specific reference though, that's good that you know exactly what you want. But you'll have to be patient to find one at a good price.

Not 100% dead set but its the watch that ticks most of the boxes for me. I will have a dive into dynamics. Cheers doug

f300hz models would be fun, but maintenance can be expensive and hard to find compared to mechanical watches
