H all, I have this tricompax ref 12552 circa 1940's with incorrect hands. Top pic. I am trying to find correct ones. The numerals are lumed and I am trying to figure out if these are correct (Pic 2), with lumed fill........... Or, if solid hands (like in pic 3) are also correct? It seems I have seen both styles on these, even if the numerals are lumed. Also, if the lumed hands are most correct, should they be blued or gold framed on a gold watch such as mine. Appreciate any and all help! Both pic 2 and 3 shamelessly borrowed from OF posts.
I would say the correct ones are definetively lumen and either blued or gilt, as a matter of fact more likely blued as the dial is not black with gilt graphics
You need a blue second hand as well. Love that blue moon face, gorgeous! What's the case size on this one?
Yes I know, and thank you. It is 37 mm. If anyone can help me source the hands??? A local watchmaker has a source who would sell genuine cal 287 hands for $380!!!, some old gentleman who can't send pics and says some of lume missing. I will be passing on that offer
Passing ? I suggest you think again. Many people out for hands would take it. Original hands are few and far between and very difficult to find. Lume is not an issue. You can always use a vintage lume which looks great and gives the watch a million dollar look.
I second that!! That being said, if the picture will reveal a good pair of hands, the price does not seem unreasonable, given their rarity
Ok, finally got the hands on! Pretty content with the results. Thanks to all here who helped me with this
Great result, defintley worth the money & work. Was good looking before, but now it looks even better! Congrats!!
I've been trying to find hands for many years, can some forum member help me too ? Need a new set, or a hour hand !
