Everytime I say I am done, something else pops up. The latest was a 1957 6536/1 Submariner. While not the best example, I am pretty excited to add it to my collection. Of course this now puts me in the 1950s and out of my comfort zone of the 60s/70s. Not sure where I go from here...not too long ago @marturx was giving me flack for overpolished POS Speedies! It’s a great piece and a amazing looking watch. Wear and enjoy it. That dial? Awesome! The lume is so evenly applied and the gilt is BAM!
Stunning dial! Very nice assortment you have, and every new piece seems to fit in so nicely with the others! Congrats and enjoy.
Fantastic addition to the collection Your opening line reminded me of this great movie scene which I'm sure has been used before on OF.
Very handsome watch, these no crown guard 37mm cases are just perfect, thin, wear beautifully on every wrist, and the gilt dials are just to die for. I also feel that with the 5508s they are the best value play in vintage Rolex.
It’s funny, after wearing the smaller, thinner case, I have a new appreciation for my other sport models. @MaiLollo is spot on, they really do wear well. Appreciate the kind words.
Enjoy it. I had worn a friend's 5508 for a couple of days and the case is the thing that striked me the most.
Ha @watchknut I would just enjoy the heck out of that one...and not worry so much about where to go next. As you very well know, this road will DEFINITELY take you somewhere...and it usually is very interesting. And if you ever decide 50s are not your thing - then DIBS!! WK
