    Hello,

I have many events coming up soon and was wondering what a good watch would be to rock with a navy blue tuxedo?
    Thanks

Preferably vintage and hoping to not spend more than 1500USD on it.

In the $300 range Orient makes some nice pieces with a nice inhouse movement. Lots of variations in the Bambino line. Be aware they come in 2 sizes now. Get a nice shiny croc strap for it and they look amazing and punch above their price range.

In my personal opinion that's the best bet for new under 1,500. The other option is vintage but it takes research to get a good deal.

A pic of your or a similar tux would help as the style can augment choice in watch.
For $1000-1500 new Stowa, Martenero, Seiko Presage, Junghans Max Bill, Hamilton Coltrane, or others would fit the bill.
If you don't mind going quartz then a multitude of options are available, mostly under $1000. Or less than $200 like the new Dan Henry piece that has an unreal dial:

20170122_130842.jpg Personally, I would go cheaper and get a nice strap...the Orient or Seiko route could be a great option...some really nice watches. My one defining factor would be a clean look with as minimal a logo as possible.

The way I look at it, unless you can find a killer piece for $1000-$1500, you are wasting your money as you are buying a watch for a specific event and will not be an every day wearer.

Too bad the 18kt Baume et Mercier 18kt dress watch I have is 34mm...it has a killer Calatrava look for a budget price. Let me know if you are interested, can sell for a good price.

    Tuxedo?

That calls for a pocket watch.

Since this is OMEGA FORUM, will vote for a Speed master with navy blue strap. One came to mind is the CK2998.

Well he posted it in open discussion so Omega isn't mandatory.

And navy blue strap? That's a lot of blue. And odds are the blues won't match.

And a tool watch with a tux? I'm all for breaking barriers and norms but a tux deserves a dress watch. Possibly a TGDW.

As Dennis might have said" Not a f::censored::ing Speedmaster you f::censored::ing fanboy!"

@yinzerniner Max Bill for dress...bold choice... Maybe one of these 2?

I think dress watches should not have Arabic Numerals on them as all the other Max Bills have. Plus the whole Bauhaus design ethos is not very tux friendly at least to me they are too clinical and sterile in my eyes. I'm curious to hear others people opinion on this one.

LOL. Agree with of the blues are different. CK2998 might not work but personally I will definitely wear speedmaster with leather strap with my suit and tie. Just my opinion.

While some see clinical and sterile some others might ascertain composed, clean and elegant. And to be fair, classical "black tie" is NO WATCH at all.
That being said there's really no wrong answer, although a uniformity of aesthetic thought would be admirable. While some see the flashy details of some tuxes (shiny lapels, fluted shirt, patent leather, cufflinks, etc) I tend to admire the balance of proper fitment, material choices and strong base colors that go into a nice getup. And the OP's choice of a navy blue tux seems to askew traditional norms, so why wouldn't his choice in timepiece do the same?
But I agree that more discussion and thought-out opinion is always welcom.

I just bought a FC slimline moon phase...can find them on eBay via grey market sellers for under $1500 easily. It's not vintage but fits your other requirements and it's a hell of a nice watch. I've had it almost three weeks and it's keeping nearly perfect time so I'm extremely satisfied so far. Here's a pic:

I'd be looking at a C Case Constellation (gold or SS).

it'll be slim enough to fit under a cuff no problem and flash enough to roll with the mess dress.

All these should be available at around that price point. The Cartier is for sale on the private watch sales in this forum.
