The hawk hitting the windows must have been a hell of a crash; they’re big birds! I’m sure the Cooper’s hawk patrol our feeders as well, but I’ve only ever seen sharp-shinned hawks at our feeders…hazy picture through our kitchen window two winters ago.

Found this little guy, a Northern Ring Neck, slumbering at the threshold of our garage when I raised the door.

That's a great picture! Did he play dead or curl up for you?

He did not curl up. I understand when threatened they curl their tail up in a “knot” then roll over and show their belly. This little guy was the size of a woman’s bracelet. I think he was sleeping when I came upon him. I think he was still sleeping when I left him.

Got sent this video. I was trying to grab a screen shot of the mountain lions paw when he put it up to the glass but I can’t capture a good pic. Anyway his paw looks like it could disembowel a human with one swipe. The little doggy seemed excited wanted to play

Some shots from yesterdays Sunday meander. Was hoping to bag a BBMF Lancaster Bomber but these will do instead and I think the wildlife dont appreciate the Merlin engines that much anyway :0).
Also a little garden visitor (friend or foe?) found last week.

Did quite a bit of hiking this last weekend around Mt. St. Helens.

Kalama Falls:

Cedar Grove flats trail:

For perspective on just how massive the Douglas Fir and Red Cedar here are:

I love these pictures of you and your boys. It remindes me of all the trips me and my dad had in the nature, fishing, hiking and canoeing. My father was always at his best on thoose trips . Great memories to have and I will cherish them always, and so will your boys. Thanks for posting Erich. 👍

Moonrise tonight.

I genuinely wish my cell camera could see this the way it actually looks.

This afternoon, lightning struck the small mountain/ hill next to us (in Greece) and caused a rapidly growing fire. The fire brigade was only able to extinguish it with the help of helicopters.
Holidays can really be educating in things, nature can do.

I talk to this bunny and walk right up to her. If I get a step away she runs two steps she watches me while she eats. I really think she likes being talked to. She had 4-5 little ones, once they hit a certain age she reclaimed the territory and I don’t see them anymore. I think she might have a parasite as she appears too thin compared to the rabbits at my old place and damn she eats grass and other plants all day.

Out walking, yesterday, and spotted some Shaggy Bracket fungus in Worcestershire, UK. Not very common, around here.
