When it's really hot outside, squirrels lie flat in the shade to try and shed body heat. This particular squirrel, however, has learned that if he lies flat in front of our patio door--no matter what the temperature--he'll get a peanut. Yes, he is smarter than we are and has trained us.

Kate Moth and friend on the wall today. They were a good size/anyone know what they are?.
Saw a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden last week. Have never seen that before/ had to look it up (too fast for a photograph).

Since I was fenced with the repeller, this little "day walker" blood sucker was probably thinking of a strategy, may be little help from the Macbook. God knows. This year they are hell of a problem.

I'd say Red Underwing, they're pretty common in East Anglia. The Hummingbird Hawkmoth is less common but they are around these parts, a near neighbour (the one with the '60s Constellation) had one in her garden a few weeks ago.

Playing about in the garden with my Cannon EOS_M ebay find. Using a Kiron 80-200 f/4 lens with a Nicon adapter connected to a EOS adapter.

While these photos may look cool, they pack some real heat. I am growing Carolina reapers, Ghost peppers, Habaneros and Cayan. Also Chile'd Arboro. The latter two I like to dry and eat as topping on pizza and such. Mostly I want to taste the others, if nothing else they look good. Apart from the reapers which are really ugly looking.

I have attempted ghost peppers before. This is the first time they bloomed and fruited.

Not a fan of ghost peppers - the flavour is off to me. I love Habaneros though - they have the best flavour to me.

Speaking of Habaneros, I have been looking for their cousins - Scotch Bonnet peppers but I haven't found them and have been using Habaneros to make marinade for Jerk Chicken. I was in Jamaica recently and couldn't get enough of the stuff. Tried once to recreate at home since back. It was OK, but I think I need a few more tries to dial it in.

I ate one of the cayenne peppers in the photo this afternoon. Made a scrambled egg sandwich with bacon tomato and Basel. The homegrown peppers really have a fantasia of flavors.
