I, like you, generally prefer straps over metal bracelets and regularly set aside my bracelets to wear my watches with leather NATO straps.
Try a honey colored leather NATO strap on your particular watch and I believe you will find it more to your liking.

That sucks, but thankfully you caught it. Can you post a picture of the front and back of the clasp?
Ive just bought the leather nato from omega boutique so know that will be genuine. It is blue , red and grey as not great light at mo. I genuinely can't tell if its a fake. Only one person has said it is out of all people who have viewed pics but if you enlarge mine compared to the commander nato on omega website, the omega lines are straighter
Wow. Up until now at least, spotting a fake Omega NATO has been really easy. On closer inspection, I think you're right: the alignment of the red threads in the fake strap is a subtle tell. Comparing it to the real one in this A Blog to Watch Article, the difference becomes a little more obvious. The red threads in the fake strap are always in groups of two as the red strip moves along the strap. The real one has a repeating pattern of 1, then 2, then 1, then 3 red treads.
