Name/Reference# Mystery

Hello, I’ve had this watch for a while now. It was my great grandfathers. So, I am guessing this is a fairly old watch. This may be the reason my quick search of the internet has led me here as I cannot find another one.

My questions:

1. Year of watch?

2. name or reference number?

3. Any other knowledge about this watch

And there may be a reference number inside but before I take it to a shop, I’ll try here. I am just curious. Any help/comments are appreciated.

thank you

1. Sometime between 1945 and 1965.
2. Omega Automatic.
3. Instead of a center second, it has a sub second hand which I like.

The reference number will be on the inside of the case back.

Edit: you should take it to a watchmaker to have it opened so you don't damage it. The watchmaker will also be able to tell you the caliber number of the movement as well as the serial number. There are tables that allow you to approximate the age based on the serial number. Just Google Omega serial number year

I’m wondering wear that bracelet came from.

Somewhere there is a watch that it matches that needs it back.

Agreed. if you're going to wear it, take that bracelet off. Looks like it might be one that expands to fit different sized watches, but the spring loaded metal pieces dig into the lugs, especially gold. Also if you're going to wear it, have it serviced by a watchmaker.

From the photos, looks like the dial is original. A nice, non-lumed mid-early 50s Omega. Get photos of the interior of the caseback (with reference number) and of the movement, and we will be able to tell you all there is to know about this nice watch.
