Yes, afraid so. Seems there are a lot of Speedmaster fans on the ΩF site so I thought I'd be a party pooper if I didn't join in to show my little Speedie collection. The one in the middle is powered by a battery, and thus exhibits one of the fatal flaws in an otherwise brilliant watch. Flat battery, hard to source battery, need to time the burn, what are we going to do? Anyway, I love them all. I was going to display them with their boxes as well, but I thought @ulackfocus would have conniptions .
Hey, all of YOUR Speedmasters aren't EXACTLY alike except for a small change in font or an itty-bitty lip around the edge of the dial. Amazing!
The X-33 is under-rated, even if it is a Quartz. Excellent watches for traveling and light as a feather being Titanium. Yours must be a Gen. 1 with the polished bezel and different crown. Gen. 2 below.
First one stopped after wearing, second one has a dying battery and the last one was set for a smiley shot and I haven't worn it since. I must make it a rule to wear at least one Speedmaster a week.
Tubber, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view. It really stands for "Not Another Fking Speedmaster Thread!".
Always keep a spare one in your pocket. CR2320 a dime a dozen on ebay, the Japanese ones are reportedly better than the Swiss made Renata.
I had put in a Renata (unpackaged) I got locally but it only lasted a month . Just ordered a couple of Varta packaged from Sydney, I'll see how they go.
And when they find out how to get round the first or second laws of thermodynamics, I'm sure they will.......
No matter the brand, but from sources that are likely to have a high turnover of stock - this way more likely to get a fresh battery. Some have date codes right on the cell by the way...and a voltmeter/multimeter is always a handy thing to have around.
