Once in a while in this hobby as vintage collector you still have the luck of being able to buy a piece which blows you away. A piece that ticks all the boxes. This is one of those for me. It is a 1959 Longines Conquest ref. 9024 with caliber 291 and the date at 12. It has the coveted 'rail track' dial with vertical brushing. This particular one has seen very little wrist-time. The lugs are sharp as a knife. The only thing to mention is some radium burn on the dial, and a bit of corrosion on the hands. Natural ageing, and part of the game. The pictures don't do it justice. In real life it is very fresh and crisp and almost feels new. Lovely find, and one that will remain in my collection. Some pictures for fellow Longines enthusiasts!
Outstanding! I understand your excitement about this find. Would you mind sharing where you found it?
Great find! Why is it that hands corrode without damage elsewhere on the watch? I see it in radium and tritium lumed hands. Perhaps just the David Banner effect on thinner metal?
Don’t know but a lot (if not all) these 9xxx Conquests seem to have it probably the steel that was used, if not the gold coating? Could be related to the radium as well?
Lovely watch. I have always liked those restrained, discreet, yet beautiful four lume plots on those Conquest models.
Nice, original, rare scalloped crown, and plenty of the green enamel on the back medallion too! Amazing photos. Very nice!
Interesting the fish colours worn out some while all else is awesome! That’s vintage, easy to appreciate such a fine example !! Dibs & major CONGRATS @septentrio
