I've been following this watch and I'm not sure what to make of it. He claims he purchased it in 1960. The case has curved lugs and crown guard. This first appeared in 1963. So he didn't purchase it in 1960. The hands are not original, but replacement hands, post 1969. It is not the proper chronograph sweep second hand. You will also notice that the hands do not match the patina on the dial. The dial is a pre professional. The only way you get that dial with a curved lug case is an early 105.012. The caseback on such an early 105.012 should be 2 stepped. It's not. The single step caseback first appears on the 105.012-66. I would love to see the insides of the watch and case. The bezel is also not original. I imagine it was replaced with the hands.

the case back is so crisp, it might be a replacement caseback from watchco. maybe even a cpl. replacement case? quite a few age styles in that one....kind regards. achim

Agreed. The replacement bezel and way-too-nice caseback alone turned me away for that one.

Logically, the only explanations can be that either the watch was so beaten up that on service it had the case, caseback and hands replaced, or it is a franken.

If the parts were genuinely replaced on a service, presumably that would've happened sometime after 1969?

On a related note, I'd be very interested to see any pictures anyone has of an early 105.012 with a pre-professional dial. I've been looking on the Internet for a few days and haven't been able to find any.
