Thanks for helping me learn about the watch. I’ll try to find the original owner who lost it in Ischia, Italy. Let me know if there’s a database or something I can contact.

With that serial, late 1990s, could be solid gold. That clasp is broken and if indeed solid won't be cheap to fix or replace. Need better closer pics for anything further, the inside of the clasp should have info too.

    Serial number: 59212667
    Article ref: 46903102

18k gold case, Cal. 2520 inside. It originally came on an strap with a gold clasp, so someone may have added the bracelet later. The bracelet that would be on this case is 020BA6505839. New clasp is not going to be cheap ($2k or so I expect), but the number is 117BA6505839.

    Cheers, Al

I learned it is 81 grams of 18k yellow gold. And the wrist band was added later. Any idea what a watch like this is worth? And where the heck do you sell an expensive watch like this? My partner says it’s only worth a thousand dollars. But the jeweler who appraised it said the gold alone was worth three thousand. He estimated this would drive up the price because it’s in excellent condition.

Melt it. Not much in collector value there...

Tell the jeweler who appraised it that he can have it for 3k. Haha

If I find something of value on the ground I generally try and return it. In Europe best place to do is via local police. They will hold it for a year, if no one claims it then its yours

Depending on the place, you are even obligated to do so. Taking others property can leed to charges being raised. @GabrielS why not return it?

I didn’t know anything about how I might find the owner. I’ve found rings and things in the United States. But there really is no way to return them that I know of. It seems kind of like finding cash. Anyone could go around the police stations saying the lost a 18k gold watch in hopes of getting some.

I would expect the police to ask for a description of the lost gold watch before they turn it over. Brand, looks, where lost.
I really don't think crooks are getting rich going to the lost and found office and asking for any gold watches they have.

If you're wondering, the way NOT to sell it is posting a description and plea for help selling it here.
