Hi everyone, I have just bought this watch online, for a very good price and wanted to know about more about it, hopefully an Omega expert can help me out here as I am new to Omega watches. Thanks and appreciate your time
I think it might be fake. If you open the caseback I doubt you will find an omega movement. But you might... all the info on this watch should be on the inside of the caseback. Model number and serial. But it might be an early 80’s Quartz and still not very valueable.
The absence of 'Swiss Made' on the dial has me worried but the signed buckle has me mildly intrigued. Pop it open to be certain.
The only mystery is why did you buy it. By the looks of it, you would be better suited with a braille dial...
Many thanks for the opinions, and appreciate the snarky remarks, I'm glad you can make yourselves look like heros on a watch forum!
Omega Shenzhen ? At best, if it is real, it would be worth 200 usd...Not sure you got a nice price. The only way to know is to open it.
Hi @Captsdhinton, you've bumped into a bunch of watch purists so maybe that's the reason for the comments. If you like the watch then that's all that matters. I see it's in a case from Prouds so I gather you're in Australia? The only way to confirm the veracity of the watch is to remove the caseback and provide picture of the movement and all markings on the inside of the caseback. If you are in Melbourne I could help with any of this. As I see it at the moment, I think that it is a genuine Omega quartz from the early 1980s. Cheers Jim
I don't think the comments were meant to be snarky, OP! We just like watches a lot so we're coming from a little bit of an unusual place. But hey, you're here too, so you have to be a little similar. All of the info above represents the best (free) consensus knowledge from a lot of very smart folks, so talk it for what it's worth. A quick pop into the back of that case and you should have all of your answers. Please let us know what you find, whether its real or fake, it always helps us to know if we were right or wrong, so that we can give a better answer to the next person who wanders in with a watch like this... Plus we're nerds and want to know . If you snap a photo of it, we'd love to see it.
