I was meeting a few friends in London yesterday and thought I would pop into Watches of Knightsbridge to be nosey.

On the way there I walked past a couple of Rolex shops, not a single stainless steel sports model to be seen. I did however walk past the Ferrari dealership which always looks impressive.

Upon arrival I signed in with reception and was escorted to a small room in an office block which had about 6 cabinets or so of all their watches and a rather large man security guard standing by the door. I was quite surprised how busy it was in their. I’m guessing a few of them were dealers due to the amount of watches they were looking at and the amount of notes they were writing down.

The staff at WoK were nice and polite. They also seem quite knowledgeable although I was quickly reminded though they are sales people at the end of the day. The chap near to me was enquiring about an omega (not sure which one) and was asking if it had been polished to which the staff replied words to the effect of ‘Oh yes it’s been polished but it’s ok as it’s been polished by Omega.’ I had a vision in my head of an over polished piece of junk but I could have been completely wrong.

I didn’t stay long as I was in a bit of a rush. I looked at a couple of Rolex 16750 they had for sale as this will be the next watch I am buying albeit not from WoK. All I will say is if you are thinking of bidding then make sure you get someone to view it for you or request more photos. As there simply isn’t enough photos that they put on the listings that shows you the true condition of the watch.

I know this is all common sense to most people.

Next up was the Omega 2777-1 thin arrow, this looks lovely and in this case the photos from WoK didn’t do the watch justice. A bit of polywatch or a new crystal will help a lot as the crystal is marked.

I think there are some good examples to be had and some bad examples to avoid.
