My wife came home from a business trip and pulled this out of her bag. She said she bought it to treat herself because she’s had some long tough days at work lately. She is right that she’s been working very hard as of late, so I do not fault her for treating herself.
It’s a belt, but she hasn’t unpacked it yet, and I respect her privacy just like I would hope she would reciprocate if I received a small package in the mail, roughly the size of a box that might contain a watch.
She paid more for the belt than I would ever pay for a belt for myself, but that’s not the point here. To each their own.
The point is, and the question I have is, can I infer a get out of jail free card to buy myself another watch I don’t need with money I could probably spend on something more useful?

You could try my approach. It takes a little time but the result is worthwhile. Start with telling your wife you're thinking about buying a watch. Then talk about different watches for hours and hours, weeks on end. Eventually she will say just buy it and i never want to hear another word about watches.
Trying to justify a watch based on her purchases just leads to an endless chain of tit for tat purchases. But if your wife is anything like mine, she'll have a low tolerance for talking about watches and your watch box will soon be overflowing.

I was complaining about the robberies inside of Chanel and Cartier boutiques, then she found VanCleef in Paris. These days I try to convince her Cartier is just as good...please go back to buying from Cartier.

·Reading this tread I am so glad that me and my wife dont have a "mother-son" relationship, nor a "father-daughter". We are grown up people that dont need parental guidance from each other, or we make shitty decisions together.
And its interesting how collecting shoes or hand bags is so similar to collecting watches.
