Here they are, nothing earth-shattering but (I hope) decent examples of their type and all I feel confident with original dials. My camera's not great and I'm not that skilled with it so excuse picture quality! This is my first Seamaster, a 552 De Ville with linen dial and the best timekeeper of all my vintage Omegas. I wore this for a month and at the end it was about 20 seconds out. A lucky movement I suppose. There is slight spotting on the dial. Despite appearances the lettering is perfect.

Another 552, with a couple of minuscule marks but otherwise pretty clean.

My 354 chronometre from 1955. Sorry about unfortunate positioning of second hand!

Rose goldon SS 551 from 1961. Starting to bubble ever so slightly but stable for the three years I've had it.

Finally, my 505 from 1957. This is the one I like best despite being the worst timekeeper, loses about 20 secs per day :(. That's it!

That's a nice little collection you have. I think they are really good looking watches in the flesh. The linin dial adds a bit of umpf to a watch, I really like those.

    Beautiful watches there!

What causes the dial to spot ? Is it a moisture issue?

I think it must be. Here's another photo of the De Ville. The spotting is only visible from 12-15 inches away. This is the watch I wear if I need / want to know the time dead on. I love the Constellations but I seldom wear them, this was my first vintage Omega, and if I could only keep one it would have to be this one. It'd be a painful choice though!

Here's a group photo along with my Cosmic 2000, now unfortunately in need of repair but I hope to have it resurrected eventually.

what a beautiful pack you have!

I would like to figure out what exactly causes the spotting and how it can be avoided or stopped if possible.

I fully get what you mean about your De Ville. I have that same feeling about my first seamaster too :)

Thanks Pradeep! Here's another one - a Seamaster 552 from 1965, case ref (I think) 165.003 with recessed crown. I had it serviced in Nov 2012 but I was still new to things then and although the watchmaker took a movement photo, I didn't ask for the case back details. I didn't include this one before because it has more spotting and bubbling than the others and I had thought of it as spare, but it has a nice "champagne" dial that doesn't really come across in these photos, is just on the turn style-wise before the elegance disappeared, and I'm starting to appreciate it.

PS the hands and markers are onyx inlaid.
