My very first vintage Omega (first vintage anything!) has arrived!

A few of you helped me out early this week after I purchased my first Omega- a 1950 342. Well, it has arrived and I thought I would get everyone's opinions.

First of all, I was shocked by the size. Compared to my usual everyday watch (see below), it's tiny. I was also shocked by how noticeable the bumper part of a bumper is. Not bad, just not what I expected.

Beautiful watch, but I'm going to have to get used to the size.

Pardon the lack of clarity, but here it is on my wrist.

Here it is with a blazer for scale. Most days of the week I'm in a suit. I fully realize that my mirror could be a little cleaner and my gut could be a little smaller.

Here it is next to the two watches I wear most frequently- a 42mm Tag Heuer Indy 500 and my bumming around watch, a 38mm Timex Weekender. IMG_1477.jpg

You don't have gorilla wrists so the watch looks nicely proportioned. I love the little clunk the bumper makes when you move around.

I know which is the best looking of the three watches you've pictured, and it's not the first two ;)

    Looks good!

There must be something wrong with mirrors today. They make my gut look large too.

Thanks! I like the Tag, but it's a tank. If I can get used to the size, I suspect the Omega will look MUCH better with a suit and tie...

If it's quartz, you have to put a new battery in.

It will genuinely take three weeks, but then it will feel a better size than the other two. I remember putting my first vintage on - it completely freaked me out...

Beautiful watch! Looks great on the wrist and will certainly be a big step up with the suit than the others. Very sharp - congrats!

    Nice watch, RCViking!

The solution to your temporary perception that a 34mm case is small is to buy a couple more vintage watches.

After a few more, that Tag is going to look somewhat oversized ;)

Brilliant piece. I've got my Cal.351 on right now and love the bumper effect..... too funny and cool at the same time.

And you can always save the Timex to drive nails.

and the stupid thing will still work afterward!
