This Tudor Submariner 7016 with shield dial was offered to me a few days ago. After doing some research, I found out that the shield dial was used only for one year in 1970 and the serial number should be in the 740xxx range. This particuar watch has a serial number also in the 740k range and the back case is stamped lV/68. Unfortunately, the bracelet was misplaced but the seller promised to look for for it.

I bought it from the original owner who swears that the watch has not been opened or serviced. The condition is very good for a 50 year old watch. The dial/hands have developed a nice patina and the faded bezel insert gives the watch that beautiful vintage appeal. Another great addition to my collection.

The Tudor Submariner is an evergreen. Nice watch!

Good examples are getting harder to find considering that not many Tudor subs were sold compared to its big brother.

A rare and underrated classic good pickup

They were underrated for quite sometime but now the prices for certain models are encrouching into Rolex price levels.

Tudor is getting crazy. Interestingly, due to BB58 navy, the blue snowflake 9401/9411 has creeped up quite considerably 😡

This is superb, and congratulations on picking up a great watch. I love the knackered old strap with it, too. I have been looking for something similar for a while, but tell me, how on earth did you manage to get if 'offered to you' ? Are you a dealer with a website that invites owners to sell to you, or did you somehow just get lucky? eBay has been my only source of luck over the years, but it has become increasingly competitive over the years. How did you do it?!

I have developed a good relationship with a few dealers who would offer me vintage watches that were either sold to them or traded in since they know thats my passion.

Especially in good conditions because they were cheap years ago and the owners used them as proper tool watches..

Right - but you said you bought it from the original owner, hence my question on how on earth you do it! I guess the dealer who offered it to you sourced from the original owner. Either way - it looks great.

Yes most of them were used as everday beater watches. But buyers beware. A lot of really good fakes have been circulating around so do your homework.

My dealer asked me if I would be interested to buy it since he was not willing to pay the asking price of the seller. Of course, i still have to pay a finder’s fee to the dealer.

That is a beauty. I also regret swapping my 7928 for a 1675 GMT.

Damn nice find @erpin9 , well found. 👍 Hopefully the previous owner finds the bracelet for it. Is it supposed to have a 7206/80?📖

Now I own a nice '66 7928 but I'm thinking to sell it..
My 7928 says Hi

I like these and use to have one but with the rose dial. Enjoy and wear in good health.
