I was able to get a pretty cool pic of my Speedmaster perched on top of an original Life Magazine dated July 04, 1969 that I have had vacuum sealed for many many years. I remember I had it and dug it out today and tried to snap a few pics of the combo. It was my late grandfathers magazine and still has his 'white mailing sticker' in the lower left of the magazine. I thought the watch and magazine combo fit well together.
Very cool, makes you wonder what would have happened if the mission hadn't been the success that it was, the Soviets were cautious enough to announce their achievements after they happened rather than before in order to hide any potential mishaps (which often occurred in the Soviet program).
Here's my LIFE magazine contribution. It's the issue from 1965 heralding Ed White's spacewalk. It's also the photo for my avatar. Along with the magazine is my 105.003-65 (the Ed White Speedmaster) along with original papers and boxes.
