Just curious, is this still considered a redial even though it was finished by the original maker of the watch?

You could call it a restoration, but the short answer is yes, the dial is refinished. That being said, there are good redials and poor redials and this one is certainly much better than most. The vast majority of collectors wouldn't want it, but the watch obviously has great sentimental value for its owner and I think that he did the right thing here by having Omega restore it.

As long as the original dial has been altered, it would qualify as a redial, no matter who did it. As gbesq said, I think this would fall in the good work category.

I don't mind redials as long as they are well done, so I would consider this watch if I ever saw it on the market.
