Ah, my first Omega! Still have it too, but now it sits in it's box waiting for my son to wear it.

The original auto movement in these was actually the 1109, the 1120 came about 2 years after the models introduction.

still my fav watch and daily wearer of all time! I just hope the next alteration of the SMP 300, will stay true to the wave pattern that this watch have but in ceramic. (Also OMEGA seriously need to make the movement thinner, current 8X00 series are THICK AF)..

You have great taste! I too love mine. Doesn't the current version of the SMP have a wave dial and ceramic (dial/bezel)? Or do you prefer the wave dial pattern on the original Bond SMP over the current model?

A few things I love about this watch:
    1. It's the original "Bond" SMP 300m (auto version).
    2. The design has stayed largely intact for 25+ years.
    3. It's thin! One of the concerns I have about the new models (and the PO) is thickness.

Also, great article! I read this a few years ago and I enjoyed reading it again!

It’s a classic, but I have to confess that I prefer the 2012-2017 version with the ceramic bezel, the glossy no waves dial, the 2500D coaxial movement, and the gorgeous hippocampus engraving on the case back. Omega hit one out of the park with that model. LOVE mine.

Nope, I live in the USA, the land of the free. I may not be able to go to work, send my kids to school, gather socially, dine indoors, go to the movies, etc., BUT I CAN decide not to have waves on my watch dial. I’m wearing a mask and looking at my watch right now!

Yup one of the wonderful thing about our country, freedom to express opinions no matter how wrong they may be.
(Yes, laughter is the correct response, I’m just kidding of course. Your watch is fantastic!)
