    Interesting story. I think the diplomat is callous in wanting the dog put down, but if the vet intended to rescue the dog (and it was the humane thing to do) he shouldn't have taken the money for its euthanasia, as that is dishonest. He should have simply said, "Leave the dog with me". So, the way I see it is that the vet wanted paying for his compassion, so to speak.

    Having travelled the length and breadth of Taiwan, I think the RSPCA equivalent would be just as well occupied in trying to stamp out the hideous practice by some Tiawanese of caging their dogs in small cramped conditions. I saw a lot of that in my travels and my heart went out to these animals.
