·Hi everyone. I am moving house and was sorting out my items. I thought it would be fun to show my journey over the years.
My first Omega was the Seamaster Pro I bought new in 1996. Such a gorgeous watch. Unfortunately I do not have it anymore. After that I made friends with some people at the Swatchgroup/ETA and that further ignited my love for the brand.
So the first vintage Omega I bought was around 1999, the Geneve Dynamic. I love the blue dial and of course it is an affordable watch. I have just had it serviced and treated myself to a new service bracelet which has totally transformed the user experience and I now wear it quite often now.
Around 2001 I became interested in the early electronic watches, again in part by the affordability and because I like the big styling. So I bought this F300 Seamaster, the one with the Speedy 125 styling. This one came from a physical watch shop in Hong Kong.
After that I went for another F300, I mentioned in another thread that my friends with watch case factories made a new bezel for me and refinished the case.
I had lusted after a flightmaster for a while, so in 2002 I sold my Seamaster Pro and put it towards my 911, again bought from a physical shop in HK. IIRC I paid maybe US$850 cash. I wore it often but it had numerous issues, it went for a complete overhaul at Omega about 8 years ago and is now like new. A bit of a mistake as it is too good to wear. We live and learn.
I then bought a Megaquartz in 2005. I refinished the case and bracelet myself all those years ago, and the movement has worked like a champ. This watch gets a lot of comments when you wear it.
Maybe 2005/6 I went for a Beta 21 Electroquartz. This is just such an amazing watch. I am a big fan of the 70's full flow styling. This was serviced once by the Accutron maestro Rob in Thailand.
2009 I bought my grail at the time, my 125. I recently had the movement serviced and for the first time since I have owned it, the chrono functions.
Probably the same year I bought a used modern Dynamic Chrono. I just love the dial on this and wanted something that was a departure from my usual huge watches. This had a complete overhaul by Omega in 2014.
In 2009 to celebrate the birth of my daughter I wanted something new. So bought this Aqua Terra brand new. I absolutely love the dial on this. I wear this all the time. It was so good to buy a brand new watch after so many years of vintage pieces and all their issues.
Around 2012 I bought an Speedy 861 from the 70's but gifted it away to my brother.
I then had about a 11 year hiatus from watches as I collected other things. This year will be my 50th so I bought a new 3861 from the OB in HK. It is just so good to look at and of course use almost everyday.
I think that is it for now. I am missing a branch off into Accutrons which I also collect. I have the usual array of Spaceviews but my favourite is the "other" Apollo watch, the Astronaut. It is just so comfy to wear but they are very high maintenance. After all these years the only itch left to scratch would be the Marine Chronometer, but I fear. that may be a pipe dream now as we are stuck for servicing.
Anyway hope you enjoy my trip down memory lane.
