    Hi All,

Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the members that replied to my request for advice about having my Speedy serviced, link below where you will also see the original condition of my watch which included the wrong type of hands which is also something I was unaware of but luckily it was pointed out to me.

    https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-1969-servicing-questions.64191/

    Omega Seedmaster Professional
    Watch Reference 145022 -69 ST
    Serial Number 3131xxx9
Movement Type CHRONO MANUAL AUTOMATIC CAL.
    Dial Color BLACK
    Size MEN
    Case Type STEEL
    Bracelet Type STEEL
    Bracelet n° 1170633

Date of manufacture was originally thought to be 1969 however Omega confirmed that it is 1971.

Without all of your excellent advice guidance my watch would have been ruined by the official Omega service centre who seemed to just want to replace almost every part of the watch, even a second follow up saying that they also recommend having a brand new case FFS!!

Instead I contacted Swiss Time Services and personally drove there to hand my baby over to Keiren Oakman the workshop manager who is a really nice and helpful guy, he also fully understands the importance of keeping such a watch in as much an original condition as possible, so thanks to him also!

I decided to have just the following work taken out on the watch.

    Full mechanical service
    New Omega glass
Hour and minute hand replacements to be inline with the original ones that should of been on the watch
    Light case and bracelet refinish

Everything else was kept original, even the crown and pushers I kept original which meant forfeiting the water resistancy of the watch but hey, I'm not interested in going swimming with it on so this seemed to be the right choice.

The postie arrived today and I am absolutely ecstatic! What a truly amazing job STS did and I am so so pleased I took the advice of the very kind forum members here :)

Ok so a few pics are below which I promised to do for the people on the original thread.

That bezel looks a bit tired. I'll swap you a nice shiny new one for it.

Great job! I'm tempted to ship them my 69 as well, still unsure about the shipping/insurance.
They do feel like they make process easy though.

I highly recommend them, so pleased I did it. Also they were fairly quick, just around 3 weeks for the work to be done

Killer piece - also great story.

Without revealing anything you can’t. What did the service cost? Ballpark is fine. I have had a couple vintage pieces bought and sold because I have no decent watchmaker around, even for a regular service.

I have had a few PM's asking me about the cost of the service so I asked STS if it is ok to publish and they said yes no problem.

    I paid 375 + VAT as a base price.

This was for, GTS SS Omega Service which includes new Omega glass, light case and bracelet polish

Also they put new hands including special ageing to match the rest of the original dial and hands, at an extra cost of £90 + VAT.

With insured postage of £10 the total came to £570

    Well worth every penny :)

    I hope this helps
