    Hello,
I am new of this forum as member ... but I have found a lot of helpful information.

I would like to have your opinion about my Omega ( I received it by my father).

My interest is to know which caliber is mounted in the watch and which is the model of this watch.

    Thank you for your help.

Looks like a 30T2 dating back to 1934. Not sure if dauphine hands went back that long. Might be replacements?

    Hello redpcar,
Thank you for you kind reply.
Hoestly, I don't know enough about this watch. My Daddy used it up to 1965 and any replacement could be in place over the years. Surely a replacement, if any, happened before the 1980 when he gave it to me.

It runs fine, about 40min per day but I have never revised it in the last 30 years. Is it worth to submit it to a revision?

Thanks a lot again and have a nice day

An authorized Omega repair facility is going to cost more for a basic service than the value of the watch times two.

Look for a good independent watchmaker who knows their way around vintage watches and also has accounts with the larger parts suppliers. Almost all of the basic wear and tear parts should be available for replacement on this watch.

Omega has a bad habit at times of ruining the originality of vintage watches by replacing parts with the closest replacement rather than leaving well enough alone.

Some are better than others, but not knowing where the OP is located, I can't say what they Omega agent will or won't do.

    Good call.
As long as the balance is ok, it should be a very easy cleaning.
There looks to be a hairspring issue but that is possibly because timing is set to the maximum advance.....

How did you know there was a hairspring issue?

Isn't that the hairspring squirting out to the upper right in the photo? None of my 30T2's do this. They should look somewhat symetric.

May just be the camera angle as all the wheels appear in oval shape to me.

Balance spring does not look terribly out of shape based on the photo...almost all need a little tweaking though.

    Cheers, Al

Tweak of the hairspring is always bad news for me. I'm about zero for a thousand in my attempts to fix. Too heavy handed. BOOM......oh well, time to buy "balance complete" from the distributors :(

    Thank you.

I apologize for the mistake ... it takes just 30/40 second (not minute) per day.

About the serial number, I have open it and the number is: 10368815. You may check in the following pics.
Has the serial number special information or it is just a sequential number? Is it reset at beginning of each year.

I look at the link you reported and looked for caliber. It was used between 1941 and 1943. Unfortunately there are no photos.

    Thank you.

    Dear All,
    I lost self ...:(

Are you saying that hairspring and balance are close to break?
    Tell me no!
However I am thinking to stop using it up to its maintenance.
I know a watchmaker ... but I fear that he could ruin the watch ... big question!

Thank you for your valuable support/advices

No, it's just the effects of low quality pictures. Take better quality pictures next time and for now just get the watch serviced. :)
