Very new to this. Can anyone give me any more information on my new watch. Thanks in advance. Love these beautiful watches. Is it worth putting an omega strap on or doesn’t it make that much difference ?

Just put any strap you like on it. Try and source a correct buckle and put it in what ever strap you choose.

What sort of information about your watch are you looking to find? EDIT: just use a strap that you think matches best. Different straps give the watch a different feel. Have a play around.

Heavily polished gold shell case. Looks as though no care was lavished on the movement. I think I see rusted screw heads. Tarnished plates. Signs that the rotor has been dragging on the underside of the case back. The Constellation button on the case back has been heavily polished. You’ll likely have to be spending a whack of money on this one. What to do about a strap is only a secondary consideration, considering everything else.

Wouldn't also care too much about the strap...

What would mind me more is what Canuck said + redial +wrong crown

If you like the watch the way it is - enjoy it :)

As @Passover says unfortunately the dial has been redone.
This is particularly common for black dials.
If it was sold as original I would return it.
If not make sure you get it serviced as the movt is in poor condition and enjoy your Connie.

I'd definitely get it serviced, that is one dirty looking movement. If you like the looks though and are happy with the price you paid put a strap on it that you like and wear it. Since it doesn't have much collector value it will be a good one to wear regularly.

Just a question about this style of watch: I always assumed Omega would match the medallion gold to the bezel gold, is this aspect of the watch original, or is the case back from another watch? Thanks for your time.

    Good call @michael22
If it’s not the lighting and the case is pink gold cap, then the medallion doesn’t match the case.

Looks interesting. I'm no expert but if you see the underside of the lugs you'll notice that it would appear the case has been replated...

I think it's just the gold capping.

Perhaps @BenBagbag is referring to what looks like yellow gold at the edges of the lug capping?
    Probably just the lighting.

Thanks for all of the comments. First thing I will do when I get it is send for a good service. I do like the way the watch looks and am not a purist so will be very happy to wear it as it is. Once again many thanks for your opinions

Thanks for taking our responses so constructively and not going off like a firecracker and spilling your drinks.

It's not a "collector grade", but if you enjoy it and intend to wear it regularly, it's a winner.

Hopefully the watchmaker hasn't just finished working on he's car engine before he services it like the last one did. ;)

( joking due to the dirty movement )

No worries. I guess if you ask for info from experts you have to take the rough with the smooth. I will wear it with pride and I guess bits and pieces being replaced over 40 or 50 years are part of its story. How much do you guys think a service will cost ?

Cost of a service will be based on labor, and any parts necessary. Worst case scenario? I don’t recall your saying how much you paid for the watch. But thorough service could cost you as much again, or more. Only answer is to find an Omega specialist with a parts account, and have him quote a price. Be prepared to sacrifice an (ahem) body part. I would look at the option of returning the watch if I were you.

With all due respect you don’t recall me telling you how much I paid for the watch because I didn’t mention it. I therefore find it difficult to understand how you can say a service would cost as much again. Would you care to elaborate?
