    Hello,

A few months ago had the good fortune to find this little beauty in an auction. I was smitten with the dial and the case.

I have a few questions on it, as I am not nearly as familiar with these as some other brands, but I am quickly becoming a fan.

Namely I'm curious about the dial. It appears to have space where lume should be but there is no lume there. The hands also have no lume. The case is solid, but it appears the back engraving has worn off, or been polished off. I was unable to open the watch once I got it, and it's currently in for service, so unfortunately I don't yet have any movement or caseback pics. I have since heard from my watchmaker that there is some moisture damage to some of the parts, so if anyone has a 215-9 parts donor hit me up

I was wondering if anyone has seen a version like this and wanted to get the forums opinion on the piece.

Thanks for looking and I welcome your feedback! That's a very cool dial, I can definitely see what drew you to that watch. Based on what I am seeing in those photos, I believe that there are lume dots on your dial, but that they have aged to a very dark color. If so, the hands should probably have narrow strips of lume as well. I hope things work out with the movement.

That’s what I have been trying to determine. Appreciate the insight!

Hands may be replacements and case a little buffed up but the dial is a thing of beauty ::love::

Hands should have lume so replaced. Great looker overall though. My watchmaker was successful on sourcing a replacement rotor for one of my watches and he told me there is a network for parts.

How certain are we that the hands are replaced? Discrepancies regarding hands and dials marked "Swiss T" are documented on Omegas and IWCs. I have seen a few for UGs but have always categorized them as non-original. Here's an example of "Swiss T" on the dial and no lume on the hands.

I also remember reading about a double stamped Swiss T dial, one visible and the other hidden under the chapter ring. I can't seem to find it right now but it's burned in my brain and has been bothering me for some time. Has anyone else documented or believed that some discrepancies could actually be original?

The hands on the OPs Polerouter fit the watch, they appear to have aged like the dial. If I hadn't seen the micro shots I would have assumed that they were legit because the lume has become faded and become one with the dial.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I love that dial. It reminds me of the marbling you see a really nice piece of steak. What colour would you say that is? Asphalt?

    That is wrong, too.

Absolutely no idea in having lume on the dial, but not the hands. The opposite, lumed hands on an unlumed dial, works in a fashion, but is extremely rare to see.

Lumed dial with unlumed hands it just doesn't make sense.

The use of lume is read time in the dark but how can you do it with unlumed hands? A lumed dial without lumed hands is absolutely useless and nonsense and not even UG, with all his idiosyncrasies, would do it.

The opposite (lumed hands with unlumed dial) could work but, as @ConElPueblo says, is extremely rare to see

Why did you call it a Universal Geneva?
