I bought 2201.50 back in 2007 or 2008, can't remember exactly which year. I sold it a few years later but always regretted it. I think I bought it used for about $1400 at the time and sold it for about the same amount. After years of buying, holding and selling, I came back the 2201.50. The prices had me shaking my head. I couldn't believe how much prices had climbed. I found a nice one last week and finally have one back in my rotation. I love the watch and the bracelet just fits me so well. I know there are newer versions with better movements but the size (42) and thickness (14.5) suits me. And I love the matte black dial and really everything about it. Funny how an "old" watch can bring so much joy.
Me too... or at least have two main lines with it... a slimmer, understated-ish more refined version and a thicker more bold line. I went to Breitling for my "bold" watch and this one for my more refined watch. My Seiko 143 is my "beater" (but I'm not rough on watches so I really don't have a beater.
Absolute classic ! In my case this is my first PO, bought a week ago... I went straight for the classic, understated, 2500 version. Newer versions are way too thick and flashy for my taste. Hope you enjoy yours in good health !
great pick up! I have the orange bezel version on it’s way to me now! I was also into the 2500 for all the same reasons, case dimensions, mat dial, classic design.
Nice 2500 PO. I just got my first 2500 a few days ago, it is a great companion option to the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial. It is my second PO, I have a 8900 as well, but I prefer the 2500.
I can't explain why but the 2500 PO looks like a more refined and polished piece. For me it's the definition of "the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts" when compared to an 8900.
It really complements the 300MC well, I agree. Funny how the 300MC, while harking back to a vintage piece, still looks more modern than the PO2500... Specially on the bracelet.
For me, the 2500 is more sleek and sporty, like a sports car. The 8900 is flashy and big, like a fancy truck.
It is a beautiful Watch. If the 2500D was reintroduced with whatever new/better/improved parts that could added and not need the thicker case, I believe Omega would have to increase their factories capacity!
I think an aluminium bezel is far nicer than any ceramic one, I think that’s a large part of what gives the 2500 a slight vintage look but not faux vintage if that makes sense.
Makes perfect sense. The PO2500 is true to its time. Think of its contemporary divers, the 5-digits Subs and Sea Dweller, that didn't have ceramic bezels either. Still more tool than luxury.
