I recently bought a 2000 P16610 from a guy on TRF for a fair price. This is my first Rolex. I got my wife a Datejust for our 10th anniversary that was from our wedding year. But, I have not owned one myself. The watch had a couple of issues, a small chip on the crystal, and the case was a bit over polished and not done very well. The chamfer lines were gone. The price reflected the issues and I was happy with the deal. The seller was very honest about the condition. I received the watch and had read about the Rolliworks shop in Campbell CA, which is actually where I grew up, and now only live 90 miles north. I decided to stop by there on my way home from a trip to see if they could fix the case up a little and swap out the crystal. I met Sal who I discovered is from Palermo Sicily. My grandmother was also from there and I told him the name of the village in the hills above Palermo. He knew the village and we had a great talk about the area as I had visited in 2008. Sal said that they could fix up the watch case and change the crystal for me. He put the watch under a powerful lense and projected the image on a HD TV screen to show me a few areas on the case that had dings, or other areas that needed work. Honestly, I could not even see them with a naked eye. He gave me the quote for the laser welding, and polishing along with a new crystal. Three weeks later it was done. I should have taken some before pictures but just did not think of it as I only had it a week before I dropped it off to him. I am very happy with the results and the service. Rolliworks also works on Omega cases in case you need something done. I snapped a couple of shots outside when I got home yesterday and just thought I would share. I love the watch, and for me I intend to wear and enjoy it. I figured that even with spending money on it I am still under or right at what most are selling for and the case is fixed up and good for another 20 years.
I’ve used Mike at Rolliworks for plenty of things and am always amazed at their workmanship. Specifically I’ve had them fix a rivet bracelet that was far far gone and a Jubilee bracelet. They are magicians.
Would you happen to have pictures of the case prior to the work carried out? Would be interested to see the difference..
the guys over at Rolliworks are doing some magical stuff for old worn bracelets and screwed up cases and right here in the USA! Have followed their posts last year on TRF and the before and after shots are quite remarkable.
Looks awesome, they are top notch. They are also one of the few if any that services, repairs bracelets along w laser welding all in one shop. They serviced my SS Zenith Daytona. Polish came out amazing.
