I have to say that I purchased this watch at a time when I didn’t plan on purchasing a watch . That’s probably how most of us get them. When I saw it I knew I couldn’t pass it up. It’s as if it had been put in a time capsule and recently opened. It’s my dream watch. The seller, Brian, worked with me and not only did I get a watch I gained a friend. Here it is on my wrist.

That is one gorgeous watch. Perfect condition, as well. I am slightly jealous 😜
Enjoy!

Congratulations! Enjoy it. I have to agree that the watches I have enjoyed the most are the ones that have come to me, rather than me seeking them out.

Even though I’m not really a gold-watch- guy, I have to admit that this a beautiful eatch - congrats.

Stunning. My ‘78 1500 says hi.

This one is similar to my grandfather's watch that I inherited in 1987 and was stolen in 2011, but mine was on an oyster bracelet. I miss it 🙁

I am really sorry to hear that! In just a short time mine has developed some sentimental value and I have become friends with the individual that sold it to me. We now know our stories of how each of us came to this watch. It’s amazing to me how a watch can draw people together. I hope some day you are reunited with your grandfather’s watch.

Thanks Larry and sorry to hear about the theft- horrible to lose something precious that way.

I got mine from a work colleague with whom
I am very close. It had belonged to his father-in-law (was a gift to him in 1978 from a legal client) but he was a gold DJ/ Presidential kind of guy and found this one a “young man’s watch” so gave it to my friend. He wore the crap out of it for 20 years and it was trashed. He traded it to me for vintage stereo gear and I have since had it redone and sourced a correct jubilee for it (was on a generic bracelet). I plan to give it to his daughter eventually (she’s 22 and just starting her career in the film production industry). Despite my friend having no real sentimental affection for the watch, it has been in her family for 2 generations, so I feel it is rightly hers....eventually....when I replace it with a 1603.

Great story. I love to hear stories like these.

I occasionally look these up, but always see ones with fluted bezels, and yours is not fluted, just like my Granddad's.

That's big of you.
Great watch and the best of luck in your search for the 1603.
