My New Old Old Rolex

I bought it on Friday through Miller & Miller auction (West of Toronto).

The watch did not look great in the auction photos, especially on a gold plated Spiedel flex bracelet. But the watch came with an old box, and I don’t see too many old Rolex boxes, this one with a warranty slip.

If the watch was a dud, I would have a box to go with my other small and old Rolex.

The box and the watch. I gave it a wind at 9:30. When I got home I removed the bracelet. Not much dirt in there. Took some photos. Rainy day here. Hard to see what is engraved on the case. Looks like “10 k gold fill” I checked my strap stock. I had made some fixed lug straps a couple years ago. This will do. The Eaton’s paper is worth reading. It suggests having the watch serviced regularly. The watch still ticks away with precision. I don’t need to beg @Canuck for help just yet. I will not likely wear this much. Why would I? I have a Speedy, flightmaster and Baltic. And the skyrocket runs like new… still, I had to have it. Plus it gets along nicely with my other small Canadian Rolex.

Cool … The trench strap really makes it work.

I had forgotten about those. I opened my box and two or three were staring at me!

Which reminds me, are you making trench straps?

Of course. Send me a message! I am willing to experiment with anything. This (on right) is from December 2023. Based on the original on left.
