I knew it wouldn't last more than a few days. Nice snag.

I had a feeling you would buy it...:p Congrats, looks like a nice example. It even has the right crown.

That depends if I sell my submariner in time. I have decided that I'm going to focus on vintage omegas as my collection and am selling my submariner to fund more vintage purchases. If I do sell it, I'm going to snipe it. If not, I just won't have the cash.

I think that's a smart move. A bunch of us, not only the Omega guys but vintage collectors in general, believe the bubble for stainless Rolexes has to burst soon. Seems like it's already started on certain models. A buddy has a mint orange hand Explorer with box & papers plus all the accompanying things you get at purchase (anchor, etc.) and he can't sell it for anywhere near what he paid for it several years ago.

I was at the crossroads deciding if I should focus on vintage Rolex or Omega. And I chose Omega because of its diversity and Rolex prices are really way higher.

Rolex Red-Subs and DRSDs, as well as Daytonas in all variants are just too overpriced at the moment. The PN is NOT a rare watch, there are thousands of them... the same guys mocking Speedmaster Limited Editions consider finding a PN to be a needle in a haystack type moment, look on Chrono24 and count them up!

Same for DRSDs, they were produced in large numbers, they're not rare unless you're talking an early prototype.

There are plenty of guilloche dialled Constellations, black dialled Constellations, caliber 354 Constellations and Ref. 2782 stainless steel Constellations. However, finding one that has all 4 of these attributes is very rare. Every bit as rare as the black dialled cal. 504 that Dennis sold not too long ago, IMO.

Can anyone find another one for sale right now?

    You've done well,

Sam & I have a big laugh over DRSD's. He's even a Rolex fan and chuckles over the hubbub about that variation.

Not a watch auction goes by without two or three PNs, even from the minor houses - ho hum.....

Then there's the whole Texas dial thing. I can't understand how they pay $60,000 for a watch with a fake dial...

If you google for "paul newman texas dial" you'll find a lot of detail, they're non-original PN dials that were sold as real by dealers and major auction houses including Antiquorum for over a decade while a handful of very experienced dealers refused to touch them, it was a point of contention back a few years ago, but its not accepted that they were not originally made by Rolex.
